Today, Beal International celebrates 50 years of innovations, creativity and passion with its flagship products MORTEX®, BEALSTONE® and CAPILASIL®. This anniversary is an opportunity to reflect on the milestones of our history.
Established in Namur on October 23rd, 1974 by Jean-Bernard Thiry and Véronique Wahlen, two industrial designers, the family business has grown to become a major player in the field of specialised building materials, internationaly.
Strong values carried by a new generation
Barbara and Kévin Thiry, two of the founders’ children, have joined the company and embody this new generation, ready to lead Beal towards new horizons. Family, innovation, transparency and environment are the fundamental values that guide all their actions.

A range of revolutionary products
While our company is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year, our iconic products have also marked major milestones and established themselves as references in the industry.
The first product range to be launched in the 1980s was CAPILASIL®, innovative solutions to humidity problems. Thanks to its range of high-performance water repellents, CAPILASIL® products effectively treat rising and surface dampness using injection and impregnation techniques, thereby improving humidity management in the construction industry.
In 1991, Beal launched the MORTEX® mineral coating, which quickly became a market leader. Made from 95% of natural raw materials, the MORTEX® product range is renowned for its high performance and exceptional resistance. Over the years, the coating has been able to meet the ever-growing expectations of architects and designers thanks to a range of over 64 basic colours, regularly supplemented by new seasonal and exclusive shades. But the choice doesn’t stop there: you can also create a completely customised shade. Its aesthetic and technical flexibility has made it the ideal creative ally for the most ambitious projects.
In 2011, the range was extended to include the BEALSTONE® system, a micro-terrazzo with excellent adhesion, robustness and an authentic mineral appearance. Fully customisable, it offers infinite design possibilities, allowing designers to unleash their imagination while guaranteeing exceptional durability. The technical characteristics of the BEALSTONE® flooring, which is seamless and poured directly on site, will give a unique « terrazzo » look to all your spaces.

Milestones in our growth
Over the years, Beal has been able to anticipate market needs and invest in infrastructures to match their ambitions. In 2021, a new 700 m² training centre was opened, training more than 2,000 professionals in several languages each year, in the application of our products. Many training sessions are organised at our distributors’ sites. In early 2025, a 500 m² showroom will offer a unique immersive experience for our visitors, highlighting our latest innovations and customised solutions.
Today, Beal International employs more than 35 committed people, who through their expertise and passion, contribute to the success of our business every day. Beal takes on technical and aesthetic challenges to push back the limits of its products.

Our products have enabled Beal to expand well beyond Belgium’s borders, with a presence that is now firmly established internationally. From the United States, through Europe, to Asia, our products are used in ambitious and varied projects all over the world.
